Moot Court is coming to 费什伯恩 Military School. This new extra-curricular program for 学员 is designed to hone their rhetorical skills in a fun, engaging 和 competitive setting.
Law schools around the world have competition Moot Court teams; but, what is MOOT?
Moot Court emphasizes critical thinking 和 analysis based on law 和 precedence. It stimulates discussion/debate based on knowledge, research 和 facts rather than opinion 和 emotions.
The Moot Court program provides an opportuinity for 费什伯恩 Military School 学员 to gain a competitive advantage in life as they learn to present their cases succinctly, defend their positions graciously 和 avoid common, opinionated arguments that seem to plague our culture.
This skill applies to all of communicative life, whether it’s interviewing for a college or job opening, pitching a business idea or representing an employer; 费什伯恩 cadets will be some of the best communicators in the room.
For a long weekend in early January, our 14 members of 费什伯恩 Military School’s Moot Court teams began their development with guest instructor Jim Lawrence from the University of Houston.
Mr. Lawrence is an attorney who specializes in mediation 和 communication instruction for law students, 和 directs the Blakely Advocacy Institute at the University of Houston Law Center.
In the 春天, the Caissons’ Moot Court teams will be competing head to head in 2 categories: middle school 和 high school.
